PSD > Cavalry: PSD Asset Import
Export Adobe Photoshop® layers as individual transparent PNGs and import them directly into Cavalry. Layers inherit position, blending mode and opacity information. Also transfer Comp size and PSD guides into your active Cavalry composition. A very flexible and organic workflow!
QuickStart Overview Video (v1.0)
What's new in 1.1:
- One-click create and send assets from Photoshop to Cavalry (vs. manual two-step workflow)
- Save assets anywhere on your file system for Auto Import (not just a Cavalry project Asset folder)
- Minor fixes for some specific scenarios
- UI enhancements
FAQ
Why?
Cavalry doesn't currently support importing layered PSD's. One day they might! But in the meantime, this workflow is available, and sometimes even a preferred method of controlling individual assets for animation, no matter what tool you are using.
My asset doesn't export, or it exports but doesn't place correctly in Cavalry?
Make sure that you don't have layers labeled as ".png" that are nested inside a layer group also labeled as ".png". You can have layers or layer groups labeled as ".png" inside folder groups not labeled with ".png" though.
Good to know:
- This requires a Cavalry subscription (to enable scripts)
- Best to use the latest version of Cavalry
I still need help.
Please email me! There are so many variables across user environments that I'm slowly accounting for as many as I can. I'd love to hear from you and get you unstuck. reuben@reubenlara.com
